Jenny Sanford is divorcing her cheating husband — lover of all things Appalachian — Gov. Mark Sanford. Using government funds to buy business class tickets to visit your mistress in Argentina — and lying about it — isn’t an impeachable offense, but apparently it’s a divorceable one.
The wife of embattled South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R) announced Friday morning she is filing for divorce, saying in a statement that she decided to dissolve her 20-year marriage after “many unsuccessful efforts at reconciliation.”
Jenny Sanford said, “The dissolution of any marriage is a sad and painful process” and added: “I know it will soon become known so I choose to release this brief notice that I am now filing for divorce. This came after many unsuccessful efforts at reconciliation, yet I am still dedicated to keeping the process that lies ahead peaceful for our family.”
Mark Sanford responded with his own statement, saying his wife’s decision is “not the course I would have hoped for, or would choose.” But, he added, “I want to take full responsibility for the moral failure that led us to this tragic point.”
SCFOM added: “No shit.”
