While mulling over what to write about here at SCFOM, Josh and I often send notes back and forth, trying to reach a consensus over which stories need to be written and which don’t. Never is it easier to reach an agreement than on Sarah Palin. Good lord, the woman was born to be fodder for…everyone.
Then-Gov. Sarah Palin signed a bill last year to make every Feb. 2 Marmot Day in Alaska.
The bill was introduced by Sen. Linda Menard, a Wasilla Republican.
Because groundhogs are not common in Alaska, Menard says it made sense for the marmot to become Alaska’s version of Punxsutawney Phil, the Pennsylvania groundhog famed for his winter weather forecasts.
Menard. Rhymes with retard. Which is what Rahm Emanual called a group of liberal activists, which in turn inspired Sarah Palin to write a retarded Facebook post about her baby Trig, who — just in case you forgot — has Down Syndrome.
We’re almost cynical enough to think that Palin signed this retarded bill just so people like us would call it retarded and give her an opportunity to talk about how we’re terrible human beings. Almost. But in actuality, this move of her seems just stupid enough to be genuine.
