We’ve been following the whole “Republicans really want to impeach Barack Obama” story for a while now, and we’ve finally figured out what the masses have been chanting:
“What do we want? IMPEACHMENT! Why do we want it? UH, JUST CUZ!”
According to Public Policy Polling in December, 35 percent of Republicans wanted to impeach Obama. Then earlier this month, a Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll found that 39 percent of the GOP thinks Obama should be impeached.
Despite the numbers, though, we still hadn’t met anyone who actually thought the harshest, most extreme punishment available in the Constitution was appropriate for the man who tried to give people health care and couldn’t repair eight years of disaster in a calendar year. Then we saw this:
A company represented by a Menasha lawyer has rented a billboard calling for President Barack Obama’s impeachment.
The billboard along Highway 41 in Oshkosh reads, “Impeach Obama.” The tagline says: “America’s small businesses are failing; help us spread the message.”
It was paid for by an unnamed company represented by Tom Wroblewski. He said the sentiment is that Washington politics are bad for small businesses.
Stunning. Absolutely stunning. So let’s get this straight: going to war based on misleading (at best) information, torture, economic policies that throw the world economy into a tailspin: totally fine!
The nebulous charge that “America’s small businesses are failing”: IMPEACHABLE!
Oh, but then there’s THIS:
[Tom] Wroblewski, [a representative of the unnamed company responsible for the billboard], said that, despite the billboard’s language, he was not suggesting that Obama committed an impeachable offense.
Can we get something straight here? Impeachment isn’t just the first thing you go to when you’re not happy with a president! Sucks that you couldn’t beat Bill Clinton at the polls, but you shouldn’t spend eight years trying to figure out another way of beating him. They’re called elections; they have consequences, and one of them is that unless someone commits either “high crimes or misdemeanors,” he’s the president until his term is up! Why is this very simple concept so freakin’ tough to understand?
